Currently, the world of technology, especially PCs, is being hit by a chip shortage which causes the price of components for graphics processing to skyrocket. It is the duty of manufacturers or brands to help reduce the severity of the chip shortage. Unfortunately, instead of helping, we found XFX playing with GPU stocks.
XFX plays with GPU stock, for miners
In the past, the brand has experienced similar events in the past, where XFX played GPU stock that was all for miners. In the past, XFX sold almost their entire stock of graphic processing units just to satisfy the thirst of cryptominers out there.
As if ignoring the events of the past, XFX seems to be doing the same thing again in the early hours of this year. Unfortunately, the brand's actions are not always gentle because at this time it is obliged to deal with the authorities.
We have this data via MyDrivers, where they no less remember to include an image of the reality of the seized XFX brand GPUs. You can observe the image below:
You can see that there are tons of graphics cards which indeed indicates that XFX is playing with GPU stock that is entirely for miners. The image above is the moment when the brand was caught wanting to 'play' with the available GPU stock.
Although this overwrite is not a new overwrite, it is a big case that the brand is using a different label photo. The symptom of undercutting import prices is obvious when a brand as big as XFX goes through this uninspired override.
In their investigation, the authorities in the Bamboo Curtain Country found that there were 5,800-odd GPUs that did not match the label. Notably, these GPUs were estimated to be in the price range of Rp. 45. 148. 950. 000.
Interestingly, the authorities did not share confirmation or straighten out whether the XFX brand played with GPU stocks to satisfy the needs of miners or not. But one override is certain that this activity is completely against the law because it only benefits one party.
But Will AMD Prepare Specialized GPUs for Crypto Miners?
AMD Prepares Specialized GPUs for Crypto Miners? The scarcity of pc graphics cards (GPUs) has recently continued to become a craze because a handful of products on the market are being bought up by cryptocurrency miners such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
As an effort to overcome this situation, Nvidia some time later launched a special product for mining, Cryptocurrency Mining Processor( CMP), in the hope that miners will no longer target GeForce GPUs.
AMD as Nvidia's competitor in the GPU realm seems to be implementing a uniform step. This is known from a driver patch list (update) document for various AMD GPU cards on the Linux operating system (OS) revealed by the pc hardware website, Phoronix.
According to the document, the AMD graphics card update currently supports the "new NV12 SKU", a series of AMD GPUs that feature the Navi 12 chip. This Navi 12 GPU, continued Phoronix, cannot be connected to a monitor because it does not have a display output.
The reason, as KompasTekno collected from Phoronix, Friday (12 / 3 / 2021), may be because the GPU in question is intended only for mining cryptocurrency.
Navi 12 itself is so far known to be used in Radeon Pro 5600M GPUs that exist exclusively in Apple-made PCs, and Radeon Pro V520 for mobile.
Last year there were also rumors that AMD was preparing Navi 10-based GPUs for special mining products. If true, then AMD may be vowing to use old stock GPUs with early generation RDNA architecture (Navi 12 and 10) for crypto miners.
In terms of mining skills, the RDNA 1 chip is not much different from AMD's latest chip with RDNA 2 architecture, the Radeon RX 6000 series. It is still unclear when AMD will announce the miner-specific GPU series, if at all.
Meanwhile, Nvidia has launched 3 CMP GPU models for miners, CMP 30HX, 40HX, 50HX, and 90HX with a hashrate of 26 MH/s to 86 MH/s.
